Extreme Weather Policy

24/11/2014

Unfortunately the weather gods didn't play ball on Saturday and the Match Committee was forced to halt the Club Championship finals matches midway through the back nine. Although wet early most storms were further north during the morning however by lunch time storms, including thunder and lightening, were further south and due to their proximity to the course the halting of play, and eventual postponement, was necessary.

Given the events of the weekend we believe it is important to reiterate the clubs Extreme Weather Policy. Broadly speaking this can be split into two categories:
  • Standard competitions. For standard competitions (ie a basic Saturday stableford competition) members are expected to consider the conditions, as well as their own personal health and circumstances, before choosing to play.
  • Special competitions. For special competitions (ie Club Championships, Ambrose days, handicap matchplay events) the match committee will decide if the event will be cancelled or postponed under the Extreme Weather Policy. This may happen before or during play.
In the event that players decide to halt their play due to an extreme weather condition during a standard competition which forms part of a multi-round event (ie Captains Trophy, Summer / Spring Cups) then the match committee may remove or reschedule that component of the multi round competition.

All members are encouraged to read the Golf SA Extreme Weather & Heat Policy which can be found on the clubs Extreme Weather Policy page.
