The Club is saddened by the passing of Life Member Heinz Eibisch on June 24, 2015. Funeral notice and details are below, all are welcome to attend. Heinz Hermann EIBISCH
Passed away peacefully at the Walkerville Nursing Home on June 24, 2015. Aged 85 years. Dearly loved husband of Margaret. Much loved father and father-in-law of Brian and Margaret, Robert and Robyn. Loving Papa of Rebecca and Andrew, and David. Always remembered with love. Heinz was a member of Echunga Golf Club for 38 years. Sincere thanks to all who cared for Heinz. THE RELATIVES and FRIENDS of HEINZ are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life to be held in the Carr & Kleemann Funeral Chapel, 1 Morphett Street, Mt Barker on WEDNESDAY July 1, 2015 at 10.30 am followed by a Committal Service in the Hahndorf Cemetery. With the early winter rain and continual cold and wet conditions numbers playing in the Thursday competition have been small and as such the Match Committee has decided that we will trial playing an 18 hole competition on the front nine only. This will allow players to play the front nine twice which is always much drier than the back nine whilst still being handicapped.
The competition will be adjusted on a week by week basis so players signing in on the morning simply need to check their card to determine if they will be playing the standard 18 holes or playing the front nine twice. Due to numbers and the current booking sheet these changes will not alter the running of the Saturday members competition whilst all members are reminded that if they play on any other day of the week they are eligible to play in the weekly competition. A fine but cold morning greeted our two finalists for the 2015 Handicap Matchplay event with Adam Beltchev facing off against Matthew Gourlay.
Despite losing the first hole it was Adam that had the better of the early going and after making a nice up and down for par on the 7th he went to 3 up. However Matthew dug in, making the most of his extra shot on the 8th before starting to get a handle on the cold and soft conditions and with Adam struggling off the tee a win on the 12th saw Matt put his nose in front. From here the remaining holes were a seesawing battle with players trading hole victories and after 18 the match was still all square. Matching bogies on the 19th saw players move to the 20th where Adam took the advantage, chipping to under the hole and making a nice par putt to beat Matt's bogey. So the final result for the 2015 Handicap Matchplay sees Adam Beltchev as our champion, defeating Matt Gourlay on the 20th hole. Handicap matchplay: Full Results |
