Opening Day - Saturday 1st April

23/3/2017

Saturday April 1st will be the annual Opening Day with our new season commencing. Once again a shot gun start will be held at 8:30 am however this years event will take the form of an Irish Stableford competition, the rules of which are outlined below.

Members are asked to book at pay at the bar (there will be no online booking sheet for this competition) and all entrants will be placed in random groups. Players will all play an individual stableford event and have their scores handicapped as per a normal event however all results and prizes will be based on the Irish Stableford format. There will be extra NTP and other novelty event prizes on the day.

Cost will again be $25 which includes all competition fees and a lunch afterwards.

Rules of Irish Stableford:

Playing as a team of four, all players play out each hole as they would in an individual stableford event.
  • On the first six holes (holes 1-6 inclusive), only the best stableford score of the four players is recorded.
  • On the next five holes (holes 7-11 inclusive) only the best two stableford scores are recorded.
  • On the next four holes (holes 12-15 inclusive, only the best three stableford scores are recorded.
  • On the last three holes (holes 16-18 inclusive) all four scores are recorded.

Each player must ensure that his or her name and handicap are recorded on the card.
The card is marked by any of the four players and countersigned by another member of the team.

NOTE: If a team consists of only three players, the "missing" fourth player will be credited with 2 Stableford points each for the last seven holes. However, the scoring still remains the same that for holes 12-15(inclusive), only the best three stableford scores are recorded and on the holes 16-18(inclusive) all four scores(including the "missing player's) are recorded.
