Due to recent rain and the condition of the course the match committee have decided that a mud rule will now be in force. The mud rule is as follows:

Mud Rule: 

Any ball lying though the green, with mud adhering to it, may be lifted, cleaned and replaced without penalty.

Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having been lifted it must then be placed back where it originally lay. Once done so the ball is in play and cannot be lifted again.

Unfortunately due to the recent rain the course is now getting very wet and to try and maintain the course conditioning the Committee, in consultation with the ground staff, have decided that motorised carts, both the club hire carts and members with personal motorised carts and buggies (ride on), will not be allowed on the course until further notice.

Heading into winter and our wet season this situation will be constantly monitored by the Committee and any changes to the ban will be updated on the website.

Falling rain and dark skies greeted the finalists of our handicap matchplay competition between Tony Guy and Derek Parrott on Saturday 14th June. However both players were keen to go and hit off just before 8:30.

Tony playing off 13 had to give Derek  off 16 3 shots and got off to a scratchy start, going two down early as Derek played consistently. However the lead was short lived as Tony made long putts to win both the fourth and fifth holes to square the match.

From here the score remained tight as both played some fine golf, none better than the fantastic birdies both players made on the tenth for a half.

After making a great par on the 12th for a win Derek had squared the match but had no more shots to be given and it was from here that Tony grabbed wins on the 15th and 17th which gave him the overall win with a 2/1 result.

Despite the weather both Tony and Derek hit some great golf shots and played consistently throughout the round, whilst they are also to be commended for the wonderful spirit in which the match was played. Congratulations to both.
