PictureA Grade: Brad Spaven & Bill Guy
After the poor weather and thunder storms last week the remaining holes in each Club Championship grade finals were played during the week and on Saturday and the winners have now been decided.

A Grade

The A Grade match between Bill Guy and Brad Spaven was played on Thursday with Brad holding a 1 shot lead on the 17th. Having been as many as three down during the early holes Brad fought back to hold an advantage on the resumption of play but this was quickly snuffed out as Bill won the 17th to even the match.

From here the game was tight with Brad again managing to hold a small lead of one or two during the late holes with some great play and plenty of birdies being made by both players, including a fantastic birdie by Brad on the 32nd hole. Having driven into the bush Brad was forced to chip out sideways before hitting a beautiful long iron onto the front edge of the green where he holed the putt. Bill having played solidly up the fairway was only able to manage a par and this was nearly the final nail as Brad went on to win 3/2.

B Grade

Our B Grade final between Derek Parrott and Ken Hampton was finished on Saturday with Derek having slowly accumulated a lead over the first 16 holes he continued to play solid golf to maintain his lead, stretching it out to 4 or 5 holes in the early part of the second round.

However on the back nine Ken made a late comeback and had the score back to only one up in Derek's favour. However some fantastic play by Derek, including a couple of birdies in the late holes saw him build the lead again and go on to win 3/2.

C Grade

Our C Grade match up between Jacob Speed and Warren Ryan was resumed on Sunday and Warren took little time in erasing the advantage that Jacob had managed in the first 16 holes. With Jacob driving the ball well but Warren doing a better job around the greens the match was a sea-sawing battle with both players holding the lead during the final 9 holes.

However it was Jacobs work with the driver which put constant pressure on Warren and after hitting it around the corner on the 8th and holing a very nice 6 foot par putt it was Jacob that came out the winner 3/.

D Grade

The D Grade match between Paul Head and Bob Burnett was completed on Saturday with Bob taking a strong lead into the second half of the match. Unfortunately for Paul Bob's consistency proved too much as he continued to hit straight drives and chip and putt well, building his lead even further before finishing the match on the 21st hole with a commanding 7/6 victory.
