We are all aware of the problems we have had with water supply for course irrigation. Although our efforts have “saved” the course and kept us playing it has caused some issues. This is no more evident than on the 5 th green where poor drainage (a long-term issue) and water quality have led to a deterioration of sections of the surface. We have developed a plan which will improve the drainage of excess water from the surface, improve the efficiency of the irrigation, increase the green area of the upper tier and repair the damaged turf. To facilitate this plan there will be a period where only the lower section of the green will be in play and there will be a large GUR area on the upper level with two drop zones. Replacement turf will come from our turf nursery so the new surface will establish quite quickly. Work will start immediately. We trust that you accept that this is essential work and that our short-term pain will definitely lead to long term gain.
